Foxy gets taken to the bush for a test drive

26/05/2005

went to see a mates place to test Foxy on grass, gravel, rocks, dirt, hills and bumps. did some great driving around awkward places in an area never designed for any kind of wheelchair access.
very impressed with all results, blew 3 x 20A fuses in the day, 2 on steep grass hill, 1 trying to hold back robot with someone else on, but not before being dragged along a fair way. So will move up to 30A for next ones, is nice to know the wiring is holding up well and the bits that are meant to blow are blowing.

need to make a new computer case for the mini-itx as i have cleverly welded myself out from being able to put the current case in. rather than cut any steel have decided to make a better case/mounting brackets for all the boards.

ran out of camera very quick so this is mainly the initial grass testing. grass had just been mowed but is very thick still and the ground was also fairly moist, dug in a bit and left trenches in places but never had the wheels spin or get stuck. about 6 people got to drive her today including a few kids and some large adults. Drove around for about an hour and a half without incident apart from the fuses.
